Wedding in Mykonos San Giorgio

One of the reasons why Mykonos, the crown jewel of the Aegean islands, is on the bucket list of most visitors to Greece is the fact that it can offer them everything they might wish for: scenic natural beauty combined with the unique Cycladic architecture, fascinating local traditions, warm hospitality, some of the best hotels in the world, and an amazing variety of entertainment choices. This may also be the reason why this sun-kissed island with a rich heritage of ancient myths and legends ranks among the top Greek wedding destinations.

Marie-Elena and Rui, an adorable young couple from the United States, were not immune to the magic of Mykonos; that’s why they chose to tie the knot there, surrounded by their beloved friends and families. And I feel lucky to have been there and captured the best moments of their big day.
The day started in one of the most stunning venues I have ever been to: San Giorgio boho luxury hotel, a perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional Cycladic elements, such as sparkling white-washed walls, stone and wood, built among impressive rocks, against the backdrop of turquoise waves and endless skies.
Rui and the groom mates gathered in one of the hotel suites for the preparation of the groom, which of course included lots of fun… and lots of champagne! The groom, who wore a blue suit with anchor-shaped cuff-links –a perfect choice for the blue-dominated setting– had a little surprise gift for all the boys: a handmade bracelet made especially for the occasion. Marie-Elena had an equally great time with her bridesmaids. When Rui saw her walking down the aisle in her ethereal wedding dress with the fine white lace bodice, combined with an olive branch floral crown and an exquisite pair of Louboutin bridal shoes, he couldn’t hold back his tears of happiness. During the open-air ceremony, which took place in a glorious sunshine, the atmosphere was charged with emotion and all those present were deeply moved as they watched the couple exchange vows under a romantic wedding arch. Fevronia, the wedding florist, had chosen fresh white roses and olive leaves for the decoration of the arch. And I should also mention that I had the chance to cooperate with the videographers Chis & Panos working with them was sheer pleasure!
The photoshoot took place on a rocky coast just a few meters from the hotel, a dramatic natural landscape shaped by the wind and the sea that takes your breath away. The first dance of the newlyweds on the little wooden pier signaled the beginning of the wedding celebration. When the couple arrived at the wedding party, they sang with the guitarist, a friend of theirs who had also sang during the ceremony and at the cocktail party. Marie-Elena and Rui were the first to dance, but were soon followed by all the guests, who eagerly joined them on the dancefloor. The party rocked for hours and everybody had a fabulous time.
Dear Marie-Elena and Rui, may your life together be as happy and sunny as your wonderful wedding day under the Mykonian sun!
